ON – CAMERA ACTING TRAINING CLASSES: (held – at Seattle's top Casting Director's studio)

  • Commercial Acting – one 4 hour Sunday - Tony Doupe', instructor
    • This is a viable workshop BEFORE you “hit the streets.” Learn how to audition for commercials and get the job: cold reading auditions, prepared auditions, and non-verbal auditions. No matter your level of acting experience, this class explores the fundamentals of commercial auditioning and performance. These skills are valuable to the seasoned professional as well as to someone who always wanted to act in a commercial and would like to give it a try. You will leave the workshop with a useful video of your work from class and confidence in your commercial auditioning skills.

  • Camera Studio – 5 Thursday nights – Todd Licea, instructor
    • This class is a fast-paced intensive five week on-camera workshop concentrating on auditioning and performance for the big and small screen. The class will include participation in and honing commercial, television and film acting, auditioning and performance techniques.

  • Acting for the Camera – 5 Monday nights - Tony Doupe, instructor
    • This is an Introduction or Review of Acting for the Camera for ALL levels of actors. Come participate in a fast pace work-out for Commercial, Television, Film acting and Auditioning. It will also include Cold reads, Monologues and Prepared Auditions. Students will have two on-camera experiences each class, put on videotape to review at home.

  • Advance Camera Intensive Weekend – Saturday and Sunday - Tony Doupe, instructor
    • This two day, fast paced workshop concentrates on scene study, prepared reads, and performance for the on-camera audition. Practice the technique involved in creating a performance over night. With limited enrollment, students will be challenged to stretch themselves in a safe, fun and relaxing environment.

      Pre-requisite: Tony Doupe’s “Acting for the Camera” workshop, comparable training or recommendation by industry professional.

VOICE – OVER TRAINING CLASSES (held - at North Seattle Recording Studio)

  • Intro to Voice-Over – 6 Wednesday nights - Scott Burns, instructor
    • Do people tell you “your voice should be on the radio?” Do you often wonder if you have what it takes? Where do you start and who do you trust? Come to a professional audio studio with an engineer and explore all phases of voice-over. Be introduced to the mechanics of various types of voiceovers: Radio, TV, Corporate Videos, Narration and Video Games. Experience analyzing copy, taking direction, voice-acting and communicating instead of just reading the script, and finding authority and sincerity – even if you really don’t believe it! Learn the true reality of this business. With this introductory class, you can explore the world of voice-over and find out if you have an aptitude for it.
  • VOICE Lab Workout – 4 Wednesday nights - Scott Burns, instructor, director, engineer
    • BY INVITATION ONLY. PRACTICE! PRACTICE!! & MORE PRACTICE!!! That is what this workshop is about. With limited enrollment, each student will have more time at the microphone with direct one-on-one coaching, recording, and LISTENING to playback with a critical ear. Now you will be working harder than ever with copious amounts of copy. Learn how to analyze bad copy, stretch your acting skills, have fun and let go with your creative juices. During the process, discover how the use of sound and music can help jump-start a character.

      In preparation for your demo production, this workshop will help you absorb the total studio experience from audition to session. Your demo might get you hired, but your performance at the session might not get you hired back. Learn to convey emotion in creating the character, since the message rides upon the emotions. This workshop will enhance your voice reads so you may have a bright future in being cast and work in the Voice-Over industry.

      Pre-requisite: Kit Harris “Adv. Voice-Over Technique” or recommendation by an industry professional.

ADVANCED VOICE-OVER TECHNIQUE

  • Advanced Voice-Over Technique – 1 Thursday evening + 5 Wednesday evenings - Kit Harris, instructor
    • In this advanced class series, you will learn specific tools for fine-tuning your voice-over skills, auditioning, script analysis, character & voice development, and reading cold copy. You will learn the importance of movement, visualization, taking your “space” in the studio, and the expectations of the engineer, producer, client & director.

      This workshop is your “next step” toward the audition process and preparing for your demo. You will study different vocal approaches for radio, TV, corporate training aids and software/gaming scripts. Also, you will learn tools to overcome the pitfalls of “nerves,” blocks, reading bad copy, and staying fresh in long sessions. There will be a mock audition in the last class. Prerequisite: Intro to Voice-Over or previous voice-over training and/or experience or recommendation from industry professional.
